Library - Information Literacy Module: Tutorial 2: Library services

Information literacy for UJ students. Start with "1 Why Information Literacy" and end with "9 Writing & Referencing"

STEP 1: Circulation desk

Neo found some books that might help him with his assignment topic and he wants to loan them from the library. Neo must watch this video to find out more about the function of a circulation desk.

STEP 5: Self check-out system

  • Self-Check-out and Check-in Systems are a way to avoid the line at the Circulation Desk during peak periods.
  • It allows Neo to check out and renew a book (provided that the book is not on hold for another patron) and also to check in materials on his own.

STEP 2: Borrowing privileges

ICL is a free-of-charge service that allows first-year students to borrow items owned by any of the Campus Libraries.
