Go to the UJ Library Homepage:

Under Library Resources, click on UJ Library Catalogue.

  • To search using the Basic Search option:
  • Type the keyword in the search box, or
  • Choose the required option from the menu under Other Searches.
  • Type in the required information in the search box.
  • Click on the specific title you require

Accessing, Downloading and Printing e books

Access to electronic books hosted by subscription databases require a UJ Database Access PIN. Additionally, the e book platform may require additional access registration including the creation of a User Account before you are able to download or print either the complete book or parts thereof. You can create a Database Access PIN here

E books From Databases

E - Brary        

Reading an ebrary book online requires installation of the ebrary reader. Users may copy and paste portions of a text within the limits of copyright law, for the purposes, for instance, of pasting a direct quote into a paper while browsing or reading online using the ebrary reader.

You may only copy one page per session. ebrary tracks the number of pages you print and you will know when you have reached your limit for that book via an error message onscreen.   As a general rule you are able to print up to 40% of the book or 1 chapter (whichever is the greater) per book title per browser session   

EBSCOhost E book Collection    

PRINTING OR SAVING AN EBSCOHOST eBOOK:  Users may be able to print a maximum of 30 pages per title per browser session. (This limit is publisher dependent). To print (or save) e-Books pages as a PDF:

  • Open the e-Book in the e-Book Full Text viewer and select the pages or chapter.
  • Select eMail and under Include in PDF, select this section has ? pages
  • Select Email, type the email address and send.

Short Loan Books

All items (print and electronic) placed on reserve by a lecturer will show in the Catalogue (UJLink) under Course Reserves. 
To access:

  • Go to the catalogue.
  • Select "Course reserves”.
  • Follow the prompts
  • Electronic items can be downloaded or printed.
  • Print/multimedia items must be checked out for use in the library (see Reserve print collection for more detail)
