Developing a Targeted Question using the PICO(T) Format

  • First, examine your topic to identify the major concepts you need to conduct the best searches.  Some useful ways to do this include thinking of who, what, where, when, why, and how, regarding your topic of interest. 
  • To arrive at a more or using the PICO(T) method: Population/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome/s, (Time frame).
