Steps in Online Searching:

Step 1: Think about your research topic.

Step 3: Locate and Access Resources

Step 4: Make use of Boolean Techniques (AND, OR, NOT) when conducting a search

Step 5: Write your report. Ensure that you acknowledge your Resources (Cite & Reference)

Why use Search Techniques:

• Identify a search terms/keywords from your topic and use while searching the Databases
• Learn how to combine KEYWORDS for better search results

Keyword searching instructions:

• Understand your topic.
• Ensure that you know what is expected of you.
• Ask guiding questions like: who, what, where, when and how.
• Do not use adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, etc.
• Computers only recognise nouns like apples and proper names like Ashton (known as keywords).
• Keywords have to be connected with Boolean operators.
