Exercise 4: Full-text electronic databases search

Step 1: Select TWO terms/keywords

  • Acetylation of Salicylic acid
  • Halogenation of benzene
  • Methanide shift
  • Williamson ether synthesis
  • Friedel-Crafts Acylation in relation to Aluminium triflate or Aluminium chloride
  • Mukaiyama aldol reaction in relation to Titanium tetrachloride 

Step 2: Search TWO DIFFERENT DATABASES for full-text articles ON EACH OF THE SELECTED TERMS

Step 3: ARTICLE OUTPUT

  • Print the first page of the article
  • Print also the page, which reflects the terms/keywords (highlight it)
  • Write on the back side of the cover page the ARTICLE REFERENCE by using the examples from UJ Reference Techniques
